Jeevess Retreat is located in Achooranam, Pozhuthana, Wayanad, in a peaceful plantation setting away from busy urban areas. The retreat's approximately 30-acre property is surrounded by tea, coffee and medicinal plantations, with views towards the Western Ghats. The natural setting is an integral part of the wellness experience, providing opportunities for walking, cycling, plantation visits, meditation and quiet time in nature. The center combines Ayurveda, Kalari, yoga, meditation and naturopathy with modern hospitality. Its wellness approach is based on personalized assessment and treatment, with therapies and dietary recommendations adapted to the individual. Jeevess is rooted in a 100-year-old tradition of Ayurveda and Kalaripayattu, with its healing heritage linked to C. Mamu Maulavi Gurukkal, a respected practitioner of Ayurveda and martial arts, and his son, Dr. Saheer Ali, who continues this tradition today. This lineage brings together traditional Ayurvedic knowledge and Kerala's rich martial-arts heritage. One of Jeevess's most distinctive features is its traditional Kuzhi Kalari, a sunken Kalari space measuring approximately 8 feet in height, 21 feet in width and 42 feet in length. Used for traditional martial-arts practice, it also functions as a Chikitsa Kalari, where martial-arts traditions are integrated with Ayurvedic care. Guests can experience Kalaripayattu demonstrations and guided sessions, while selected programmes include daily Kuzhi Kalari practice. The centre follows a farm-to-formulation approach, cultivating more than 450 medicinal plant varieties in its organic farms.
